At the competitions, students from Russia broke the record, taking all 8 gold medals at once. Competitions of the 21st Asian Olympiad were held in Taiwan with the participation of 180 schoolchildren from 23 countries. The team included Amir Akhundzyanov from the St. Petersburg National Research Academic University named after Zh. I. Alferov of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Academic Lyceum “Physical and Technical School” named after Zh. I. Alferov, Denis Ismagilov, Matvey Kenyazev and Matvey Fedin from the Phystech Lyceum named after PL Kapitsa, Nikolai Kononenko from the 57th school in Moscow, Artemy Novikov from the Bauman engineering school № 1580, Danila Samodelkin from the school № 2007 FMS, Dmitry Khvatov from the state budgetary professional educational institution “Vorobyovy Gory”.
A team of schoolchildren trained at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and performed at the Olympiad with the organizational support of the Ministry of Education under the guidance of experienced mentors. Artem Voronov became the head coach of the national team, Vitaly Shevchenko and Yuri Skakov acted as team leaders.
