2020 Nobel Prize winners in physics announced

The 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to a team of scientists who discovered a supermassive compact object in the galaxy.

According to the website of the Nobel Committee, British physicist Roger Penrose, German astrophysicist Reinhard Penzel and American astronomer Andrea Gez will receive the award. They found that the formation of a black hole “reliably predicts general relativity.”

On Wednesday, the winners of the prize in chemistry will be announced, on Thursday – in literature, and on Friday the name of the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced.

Note that because of the coronavirus, for the first time since 1944, the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm was decided to be held online.
